I shall blog, because my tudi has been clamoring for more. Actually, I've just been lacking the inspiration to actually write any articles - nothing really controversial these days.
Of course, the only thing that's making the headlines is the World Cup being held in Germany - it's nearly the knockout stages. Not too many major upsets, barring the Czech Republic vs Ghana match, but a whole host of disappointments. England for one looks really boring and uninspired, and Italy not being able to beat a 9-man USA spoke volumes.
The punters wouldn't say that though. Many have lost on what seemed to be predictable matches, and won big on outside bets - no one expected Germany to put 4 past Costa Rica, while taking 2 goals. Apparently, a friend of mine who placed 5 dollars on that match earned himself a tidy sum of 60 dollars. Go figure the maths if he had put down 500 bucks on it.
Other than the World Cup, it looks like nothing really seems to matter - at least, it was better than in 2002, where people stopped working in the business district just to watch football. Heck, it was an acceptable excuse to NOT work and watch it. Speaks volumes. 1 for Fanaticsm, Nil for Common Sense.
