Looks like I'm out of my funk. I admit, I was lazy too. Anyway, I've decided to begin posting again, little slices of my life that I hardly ever advertise. I admit, someone sort of buggered me into beginning to blog again, so, I hope you're happy now, tudi. =)
Anyway, an update on what happened ever since that day:
- Out of my funk
- Sprained my ankle
- Slacked, slept and lazed through three whole weeks of MCs
- Recovered partially and clearing leave
Yup, it looks like I'm back to normal.
Been in contact with a Today (a tabloid in Singapore) reporter. She recently published an article that really caught my attention, regarding gaming. Or to be more accurate, earning money from gaming. Now, all gamers will swear that they love gaming, which is mainly true. What they will NOT admit is that they want to live a life of gaming, simply because it was never really feasible, or even legal in some aspects. Now this article that I read made me laugh outright first, because it seemed totally wrong. Let me explain a little.
[gamer knowledge]In 99% of online games, it is against the rules (legal EULAs, or end user legal agreements), to sell ingame items, cash or characters for cold, hard cash. Simple examples are Final Fantasy XI and World of Warcraft. [/gamer knowledge]
An up and coming local company announces plans for creating an online bank, where gamers can deposit their online cash into a bank, and reap dividends. In real life, banks earn money from re-investing deposited cash and can therefore generate an interest for customers. Last I checked, there weren't any businesses ingame that produce an annual report for their shareholders. I doubt Orcs and Tarutarus have stockmarkets, but I digress. Furthermore, they propose that online cash can be traded among games, at certain exchange rates, depending on how popular a game is. Conspiracy theories aside, I highly doubt all MMOG companies are under a single corporation.
Interesting concept, this virtual bank. Highly unfeasible, but interesting. I will observe closely.
